This patent is a modification of US Pat. 1991101.
The mechanism for rotation in the horizontal plane is the same.
In the 1st modification (Figure 1 and Figure 2) the vertical
plunger 11 is connected to a link 10 which is connected to the
a lamp-bulb mounting C via a clamping ring 9.
The lamp-bulb mounting is also connected by a traverse pivot 8 to
a fixed reflector 7.
The up-down action of plunger 11 causes the lamp-bulb mounting C
(and therefore the light beam) to be rotated in a vertical plane.
One of the lamp's terminals is grounded. A wire 13 from the other of
the lamp's terminal runs through shaft B' to a contact-carrier 14.
An insulation disk 16 is between the contact-carrier 14 and the
lower end of the shaft B'.
Contact-carrier 14 carries a spring-projected contact-member 14a
which is held against a curved, segmental contact member 17 which is insulatingly
connected with frame A at points 17a.
As can be seen from Figures 1 and 2, the conductor 13 preferably
extends through an opening in the disk 14 by means of one of the screws 15.
Therefore current may be passed continuously upward to the lamp bulb as the lamp is oscillated
in a horizontal plane.
In the 2nd modification (Figure 4 and Figure 5) the parts related to oscillation in the
vertical plane are stationary.
A bulb C3 incorporates a lower filament 31 and an upper filament 30.
One side of each filament is grounded.
Wires 33a and 34a pass through shaft B' to contact switches 36
and 37, the closing of which are caused by cam-segment 35 on a worm wheel 22a.
The on-off cycle of the filaments 30 and 31 is put into synchronization with
the mechanized movement in the horizontal plane to effectively produce distinct flashes of light.
